Population

The Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) population 1/ increased from 202,758 in 1970 to 306,241 in 2010. That was an increase of 51.0 percent.

The foreign-born (FB) population increased from 2,221 in 1970 to 14,079 in 2010. That was an increase of 533.9 percent. The foreign-born share changed from 1.1 percent to 4.6 percent.

The share of the overall population that was native-born (NB) increased by 45.7 percent.

The primary sources of population change are:

The first chart below shows the three population change factors for three periods adjusted for annual average amounts. Natural change (B-D) was the major factor adding population in all periods.

The second chart shows the same data but with an adjustment to reflect births to immigrants shifted to NIM. In it, B-D remained the major factor in adding population.
